Product operating model
The way product decisions, responsibilities, teams and workflows are organised across a company.
Also known as: product model, product management operating model
A product operating model describes how product work actually runs inside an organisation.
It includes who owns which decisions, how teams are structured, how product and engineering work together, how opportunities are assessed and how work moves from an idea to a decision and then into delivery.
The operating model is broader than the meeting cadence. A company can change its meetings without changing how authority, responsibility or investment decisions actually work.
