Product strategy

A set of choices about where a product will compete, which problems it will focus on and how it expects to win.

Also known as: strategy for product, product strategic direction

A product strategy gives teams a basis for making decisions.

It connects the company strategy to product decisions by defining which customers and problems matter most, where the company will focus and what it is willing not to do.

A useful product strategy should help when two reasonable opportunities compete for the same people, money or time. If everything can be called strategic, the strategy is not doing much work.
